Duties and Responsibilities:

They fit and fix the prescription glasses to meet the specification given to them by the ophthalmologists. They also fix the frames of glasses to meet the needed dimensions of the persons facial features. They may fix the fitting of any artificial eyes on a patient as well.


$19,000 – $40,000


You must need a high school diploma or GED certificate.  You must finish the two-year course at an school of “opticianry”, or they can complete an approved three year on-the-job apprenticeship.


I have no interest at all doing this job. I don’t want a job that just requires you to piece things together, it feels to much as a factory job.
